Green Leaves
Sunday, 17 May 2015
After a very dry and sunny April we are finally getting our April showers. On Thursday it bucketed down and it left the garden and beyond the most wonderful lush green. Yes, I'm British and I enjoy talking about the weather.
Here is a little sneak peek at the collection I've been working on in collaboration with the marvelous Jo Waterhouse, what a talented lady! I'm so excited to complete this collection and show you all, it feels like I'm finally making stuff I really feel proud of... More to follow my lovelies. You can see stuff as it happens here of course.
Elephant Head for Edinburgh
Friday, 13 March 2015
Way back last September I was asked to make a papier mache head/mask for the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show. The theme for this years show was 'The Elephant in the Room' combining their two charities Elephant Family and Scottish Association for Mental Health. I was so pleased to be asked, and although it was really time consuming (I got through a lot of trashy shit on Netflix waiting for newspaper layers to dry) it was really enjoyable to do something different to sewing.
They've used the head on their blog as an alternative to the normal street style picture, to create an anonymity when talking about ones feelings, such a great idea for some real good causes.
Many Hands
Wednesday, 30 July 2014
Things have been quietly busy. The weather has been hot and I've been reluctant and bored of working on my own. My good friend came to help me out in the studio last week and it was such a relief to have helping hands. It's not even about the amount you get done but the rhythm you get into when working with someone else by your side is something I've really missed.
Many hands make light work. Not even many hands, but perhaps just an extra pair is a good place to start.
Spring Calm
Wednesday, 19 February 2014
The worst of the weather seems to be over (I hope!) and whilst there are still small rivers flowing down the hills and fallen trees at every turn things have become more calm and spring like. I am working on a little collection that will be released in the coming weeks. Florals for spring? No surprises there then.
ALEXANDRA HÖJER

Beautiful photos of this rather envious studio space. Originally seen here. Makes me realise how much work I have to do to get my studio in order after this holiday.
Today
Wednesday, 27 November 2013
Today I am mostly wrapping up warm, listening to the hum of the heater and the voices on the radio, sewing custom Liberty dresses, washing fabric and hanging it to dry, drinking too much coffee and wishing it wasn't so cloudy so I could take photos that weren't all grainy and blurry.
Lists like this always remind me of this for some reason.
Fading Light
Tuesday, 29 October 2013
Some pictures of my studio from recent weeks. Now the clocks have changed and the evenings are dark it is rather tricky to get any natural light.
I hope everyone is having a lovely week and it enjoying this wintery weather, rain rain rain (oh and super dooper wind apparently). I'm looking forward to Halloween and bonfire night - mainly standing around in front of big fires and drinking watery hot chocolate out of polystyrene cups trying to warm your hands and toes.
Studio Sunday : New Space
Sunday, 15 September 2013
Some corners of my new studio. It still needs some work, but I couldn't help moving in already. I loved my old space but when making clothes you need some room to spread out when cutting and pressing and now I have a nice area of floor space where I can sit in front of my blow heater and work away all winter.
Fabric Dyeing With Flowers
Wednesday, 4 September 2013
It's been a while since I experimented with natural dyeing techniques. After playing around last year I put it down to something I wanted to do but didn't have time to learn about. I saw Nancy's beautiful post about using flowers to dye fabric months back and I finally decided to give it a go. If you want to try it at home this is a great step by step guide.

I'm really pleased with the results. It looks all romantic, doesn't it? I'm not sure if the colour would hold up against washing so it might not be the best for clothing. I'm learning more and more about natural dyes and printing my own fabric and am so excited to be using some of it in the collection I'm working on.
