Morning Star

Dress - Stolen from my sister (H&M about 6 years ago) / Morning Star Top - Me / Earrings - Coucou Suzette / Necklace - my fav Alex Monroe

Been layering up my Lumps of Plum Pudding pieces for some sunny Autumnal weather we've been having. Here I am looking reflective whilst standing in a bush in my slippers. I never know what to do with my face.

The organic cotton looks and feels so lovely when it's dyed in this way because all the crinkles and wear adds to the character of it (and less ironing too which is of course good).

Although I didn't want my lookbook shoot to end up too summery I think it did, it was summer after all, but most of the pieces are intended to take you through the year and are great for layering up with thick tights and socks and long johns. I will be adding a few new garments in wool and corduroy over the next week to take you through the winter months.

Lumps of Plum Pudding

Friday, 21 August 2015

Oh dear, another forever since I've done anything on here. But it's because I've been busy elsewhere - I promise! (and I'm lazy and my computer died and I like watching TV more than reading blogs these days) Anyway, I released a new collection and forgot to tell you about it. I have a million posts planned about it so I hope to write them soon before I lose my mojo.

You can see the whole collection here in the shop - and buy it maybe? I really am chuffed with this collection, if I do say so myself. My main rule when designing and making these pieces was to create garments that I would actually wear and because I've stuck to that I feel like it's really 'me', without sounding like a total cheese bag.

Will share some look book pics soon my lovelies.

Wedding Dress

Monday, 6 July 2015

The lovely Suz contacted me earlier in the year about making a dress for her wedding day. Although the task seemed a little daunting at first I'm so pleased I said yes as it was really a lovely experience and I'm so proud of the results (if I do say so myself).

She was very keen to have an organic cotton dress that represented her and her fiancee's ethics and wanted something simple and elegant for her June wedding in Malta. The flowers were crocheted by herself from organic cotton too. She just looks so beautiful in the dress and it looks like a really magical day indeed.

By The Seaside

Tuesday, 9 June 2015

I think my old camera is breaking. It's less reliable and more grainy. Here are some odd pictures from different times by the sea.

Mmmmm... Fish and chips...

Sitting in Family Tree

Tuesday, 2 June 2015

Today and tomorrow I will be at Family Tree in Exmouth Market. Making some accessories for my collection with Jo and showing some of the pieces we've created.

Pop in if you are in the area. Might be there until about 5.30/6pm.

Green Leaves

Sunday, 17 May 2015

After a very dry and sunny April we are finally getting our April showers. On Thursday it bucketed down and it left the garden and beyond the most wonderful lush green. Yes, I'm British and I enjoy talking about the weather.

Here is a little sneak peek at the collection I've been working on in collaboration with the marvelous Jo Waterhouse, what a talented lady! I'm so excited to complete this collection and show you all, it feels like I'm finally making stuff I really feel proud of... More to follow my lovelies. You can see stuff as it happens here of course.

Last Rays

Tuesday, 12 May 2015

/ / Top - Seasalt / Jeans - old from eBay / Sunglasses - Etsy \ \

I think these photos were actually taken at the end of last summer. My sister and I catching some final summer rays in the garden. This is one of my favourite tops and I wear it all the time (I'm wearing it today even), it's organic cotton and I'm tempted to buy loads even though I don't need to.

Pat Albeck

Tuesday, 24 March 2015

On Sunday caught the end of Desert Island Discs with Pat Albeck. I've not heard of Pat before but something about the way she spoke about design and creating work for others was so wonderful, it made me turn the radio up and sit in silence for the rest of the show. She went to the Royal College of Art in 1950 and I just can't imagine what a weird and wonderful time it was to be studying this subject. She said she paints every day and that you have to keep it up otherwise it's too hard to go back. She said you have to create stuff that you would want, and you want to buy and not try to please other people, she said other things and you should listen to them here.

Without Radio 4 I wonder if I would learn anything.

Elephant Head for Edinburgh

Friday, 13 March 2015

Way back last September I was asked to make a papier mache head/mask for the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show. The theme for this years show was 'The Elephant in the Room' combining their two charities Elephant Family and Scottish Association for Mental Health. I was so pleased to be asked, and although it was really time consuming (I got through a lot of trashy shit on Netflix waiting for newspaper layers to dry) it was really enjoyable to do something different to sewing.

They've used the head on their blog as an alternative to the normal street style picture, to create an anonymity when talking about ones feelings, such a great idea for some real good causes.

Queue For The Zoo

Sunday, 8 March 2015

I bought this fabric about a year ago as soon as I saw it as it's just really something spesh. I made myself a smock dress and then forgot to add it to my shop. I think I was enjoying actually wearing something I'd made for myself, which I'm pretty bad at most of the time.

Anyway, it's a fav so I've added it to the shop. You can get it for the rest of today for 90 squid, but tomorrow it'll be going up to £120. So act fast if you fancy paying less for things. Here I am modelling the dress for your eyes whilst in my slippers and having a cupper and accidentally looking stroppy.

You can buy the dress in my shop here or Etsy here. Or just drop me an email on hello{at}isabelknowles{dot}com and I'll send you an invoice direct.

PS: I hope everyone's been having a good 2015 - sorry I've been away for so long. As usual no good excuses. I wonder if there's anyone out there...
