Blossom
Tuesday, 25 June 2013
A few pictures of blossom I took a while back in London. Now the blossom is over but everything is lush and green.
I'm so busy at the moment I don't know whether I'm coming or going. My sewing machine decided to start to break though which is simply typical. It is fixed - for now - and it feels good to be back on track.
Don't forget to follow my blog via Bloglovin' (other blog followery things are available) if you are currently using Goggle, because something is happening and that will no longer be possible. I won't pretend to know exactly what's going on, because I don't really have a clue. However Bloglovin' is actually really good for reading your blogs and it's got a good app too. You can follow my blog here - Hello, hello, follow me and read my blog yes.
I hope everyone's having a lovely week. Guess what? I'm going to Glastonbury tomorrow and I'm so bloody excited. See you on the other side.
Photos Of People I Don't Know
Friday, 21 June 2013
I can't help myself when I see a box full of old photos or postcards in a junk shop I just have to have a rummage. Here are some that I bought in Falmouth yesterday:
I chose these photos because they have a summer holiday sort of vibe. I chose the last photo because that woman's face makes me happy. I hope it makes you happy too.
i n s p i r e d : Meg Ryan
Tuesday, 28 May 2013
I'm not exactly a massive rom-com kind of person, but 'When Harry Met Sally' is such a classic. I watched it the other day and I fell in love with Meg Ryan's style. So 80s/90s I just can't help myself. Here are some screen shots of her looking pretty rad.
Those glasses in the top pic are my faaaav / Babytalk! That pink dress with the scalloped neck line, lovely lovely / I like her hair and those high waisted jeans, also the desk is so good. My hair is prone to some spontaneous wild 80s dos as it has 'a lot of home hair cuts' (hairdressers words) in it, so I gotta take some inspiration from her mop top.
Picnic Weather
Tuesday, 21 May 2013
/ / Shirt - Borrowed / / Trousers - My grandma's / / Sandals - Very old Birkenstocks / / I've bought sunglasses now so I can open my eyes in a picture \ \
We've been having some perfect Spring time weather and beautiful sunny afternoons lately. I spent bank holiday Monday in London as my sister had a picnic for her birthday. I love living in the countryside but there's something pretty magical about London come summer. The trees are all in blossom, there's warmth in the air and everyone seems to be cycling about or lounging on patches of grass.
Spring time that feels like summer is my favourite. I like May because it has two bank holidays and it feels all full of optimistic plans for the warmer months.
i n s p i r e d : The Birdcage
Tuesday, 30 April 2013
(photos are shoddy screen grabs - sorry)
I watched The Birdcage this evening. I love that film, I hadn't seen it for years. Along with loving all the wonderful drag outfits - of course - I've become obsessed with the dress Calista Flockhart wears to super. The shape is pretty 90s and she can pull it off a treat. The collar on the dress is wicked. Adding it to my 'must make myself something a bit like this' list definitely.

Some photos of life lately. This film was so interesting to get back from the developers, it starts with the most shitty weather, heavy fog and soggy mud everywhere. By the end it is starting to look a lot more spring like with dafs on the ground and some bright sun cracking through the clouds. The last photos are taken in St Ives at Easter, the light is always something special in St Ives, you can see why so many artists have been inspired there.
Coffee And TV
Friday, 8 March 2013
(not much TV, but I've dedicated this evening to catching up on all the telly I haven't been watching)
It's funny when you look through Instagram photos and realise how much you take photos of the same ruddy thing. Coffee, flowers and dresses. But to be honest, this is pretty much my life at the moment.

Hello weekend, you snuck up on me. Hope everyone has a lovely one!

Windowsill
Thursday, 17 January 2013
I have given in & finally bought some little organisation things. It may sound silly but having somewhere to keep your threads & bobbins makes a big difference rather than scrabbling around for things. I am naturally a very disorganised person so I often find myself searching through pockets & bags & on the floor for something & then I find what I was looking for in the draw named 'Needles' (for example). I just never suspect that I would have actually put something back in it's right place, but I am trying to change my habits & need to get used to being more organised than I think I am. I've just bought a whole load more of the organic cotton threads, I think little things like that make a difference when trying to be a bit more environmental. Also, I want to line them all up on my new spool holder & I like the way the wooden spools look.
I got these hyacinths the other day & they have opened up a treat. They smell beautiful like spring.
Thank you so much for all the feedback on the Liberty prints! I have chosen two - I couldn't just choose 1 in the end - & I've already started to make up a dress in one, which I will be sharing very soon. I hope everyone has been having a lovely week. Apparently it is going to snow here tonight. I hope so.
Happy New Year
Wednesday, 2 January 2013
Happy New Year one & all! I was planning on doing a little new year post yesterday with thoughts of the year gone by & plans for the future, but what was meant to be a quiet new year at home ended up being a dancing til your knees hurt, drinking sloe gin from the bottle sort of night, so yesterday involved a lot of sleeping & watching Princess & The Frog (which is actually really good).
Today I am finishing off some sewing & tomorrow morning we are off to Paris! This Christmas has been absolutely amazing, so much fun playing games & drinking & eating with family & seeing old friends too who are back for the holidays. I found it very strange taking an 'official' holiday as it is hard to shake the feeling of guilt when you work from home it just feels funny not having to feel guilty about not doing work. Does anyone else have this problem? I am looking forward to some time away from home to gather inspiration for the year ahead & make some concrete plans about what needs to be done, changed & what lessons I have learned in my first year of business.
Without getting to gushy (which is hard at this time of year as everyone seems to be all gooey) but I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me in the last year whilst starting up my little business, that means thank you! I can't quite believe that people read this blog or wear dresses that I have designed & made, it's a little hard to come to terms with but it means the world to me.
I hope you all have had a magnificent holidays & are looking forward to 2013, may it be filled with happiness & laughter & silliness (& hard work) & all the things that make life good.
